Now that I think about it, there's not much after my last entry. After Lavenham, a supermarket stock-up trip and cold dinner on Friday was followed by an evening in.
Saturday daytime was spent getting Patrice's kids up and off to whatever they were about, a bit of prep for that evening's b-day party for the youngest, Danielle, and then taking an afternoon breather to browse St. Ives and the River Great Ouse waterfront. I had been there once before, a whirlwind afternoon visit during a business trip, but it was late on a Sunday so all was closed. Patrice made the extra run to sign out the key to the Chapel on the Bridge, and we actually went in, and then out on the little balcony over the water. Another very cool bit of how old things are in the British Isles.
We browsed, shopped, and snacked a bit. I found an inexpensive silver ring, nicely made UK silverwork (the shop assured me) though they didn't know the maker. Bought some goofy little stuffed toys, nothing particularly "English" about them other than I'd never seen or heard of them, for neices and nephew. Back home to wolf down a quick dinner, and then we were off to help out by filling out a requisite number of adults for a 13th Birthday Party at a nearby Town Hall, for Danielle and 90 of her closest friends. I tended "bar" (coke and what the English call Lemonade, which is pop) and Adam was event photographer. It was a noisy, messy evening, but in generally, Patrice seems to have really great kids and their friends were all polite, and didn't do any more damage than your average gathering of 50+ persons of any age would do.
Sunday morning we had the treat of a chauffeur to Heathrow, which, while we could completely have taken the train was much more comfortable and quick, and 7 hours packed into cattle-car-class air transit. My toes are still a bit numb.
And so we were home! Monday was cleanup, laundry, and a visit to the much-recovered Blue, who is emaciated and still a bit jaundiced, but back to her noisy self and ordering Dr. Bonnie around horribly. A late-night update yesterday was that she got a full 51 mls of food in her night feeding and her hot-feeling ears had cooled, so she didn't have a fever as feared when I noticed earlier in the day.
Tonight will be another, short, visit, and I'm off to teach gym, then again at 7 am tomorrow, then a stretching seminar for walking group, and hopefully Friday we'll be bringing her home.
Tah for now. Off to finish the workday.
