Boomerang Blue is Back, now with more Squeak!

The email late Monday night was that Blue is better, but has pancreatitis, but the consulting vet didn't charge to re-do the ultrasound, and that she hadn't barfed since Sunday morning and could go home Tuesday if that stayed the same.

Tuesday, I phoned the vet, and they said I could have her back, but Dr. Bonnie put her on the phone, and all I heard was "Eeeep! EEEEEK!" and I told her that was the wrong cat. She said nope, that was Blue, but she woke up without her voice. As such, she was ready for discharge, as she could no longer be held in "the Siamese ward" with a shamefully non-Siamese voice like that.

So, I have my Blue back, but there has been a mysterious substitution of voice circuitry and she does not sound right. She is as chatty as ever, but sounds more like Sprout! She has also had a little epiphany on opening doors, and it is now impossible to keep her out of the bedroom closet. We retrieved her 3 times last night and finally gave up, and it turns out that was fine because she slept in there all night and everyone got a full night's sleep for a change.

Her drug cocktail now includes Zantac and a mild narcotic. The vomiting and slow gastric clearance is related to the pancreatitis, I presume because the inflammation just places immense pressure on the stomach (ask me how I know!) and prevents normal outflow. The Zantac helps with reducing reflux and also with gastric mobility, and the pain meds prevent her from resisting feeding because it hurts. There was a small bit of vomiting just after I gave her the meds last night, but I think that was just a big burp that happened to be behind the last few mls of fluid, as nothing further happened, she happily had her bedtime meal, kept it down, and slept all night without yelling.

Breakfast this morning seems to have gone similarly well, except for the part where I was not allowed to get out of bed while Adam was feeding her. As long as I was lying on the bed - happy Blue, sitting still, content to have her food tubed into her. I try to get up and put on deodorant - squeaky Blue, agitated, detaching her syringe and trying to head for the closet again. It's nice to feel appreciated, but we can't have that all the time, or I'll be late for work.

Hopefully we'll find her mysteriously-vanished voice before too long.
