Cuba was wonderful. Great weather (even though the locals didn't all think so), friendly warm people, new friends both Canadian and Cuban, and lots of good learning about both photography and culture. A very immersive trip - we were not simply sitting poolside sipping pina coladas, though there was a bit of that too. I could easily have filled two more weeks and still not been tired of it, I think, though possibly the accumulated bug bites would have cut into the comfort level a bit. If I could say anything negative, it would be about the food, which was plentiful but only fair-to-good. I think it would have been better had the resort chef been making Cuban food and not attempting "North American" food with pretty little familiarity with it. But BBQ pork, black bean rice, and fresh coconuts off the tree? Beautiful.
I'll scribble a bit more in the coming days, and add the photo essay that resulted from Trina Koster's Photo Cuba excursion to my Gallery soon. For now, there is much laundry and tidying before going back to work tomorrow. For now - the last photo my G9 took on the trip. Valentine's Day Sunset over Chivirico.
