This is my second month of the Pick Up Sticks sock club. Niiiiice. A wavy, lacy cabley pattern called Beach and a custom colour of Seacoast's "Panda" merino-bamboo blend called Seaside. I'm still workin' out getting something done with last month's installment, Trellis in the Spring Garden yarn, but this one looks quite jump-innable. I'm very happy to find I like the feel of the yarn, too. Hearing the world "bamboo" associated with textiles doesn't make most folks think of something silky-soft to cuddle up to, but this really is. Since sustainable/renewable resources are important to me, bamboo yarn is something I really WANTED to like, so very nice to find I do!
But first, must finish this:

Looks like a strange, green striped yarn jelly fish right now (Blue seems to think so, by her glare) but I hope it's going to be a hat. The Yarn Harlot, who has been traversing the US rallying knitters to good fun and good causes, finally has a Canadian book-talk date in Toronto on Friday and I'd like to go (waiting for colleagues to step up and help with the pager). A cause she has taken on for this book tour is to gather and donate hats to the needy and homeless of the communities she visits. Knitters are invited - never required - to contribute a handknit hat, which are then distributed through grassroots street aid groups. Toronto's donations are going out through StreetKnit.
So, if I get enough time (like maybe not blogging so much!) to finish this, I hope it turns into a warm if ugly winter hat for someone.
Off to laundry, and of course, knit!

I'm halfway through my hat for the Harlot. Got the knitting for the bus on the way home tonight, gonna finish it after dinner.
I'll look for you there!
